Tangsuyuk (Korean-Chinese Sweet and Sour Crispy Pork)
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, pour the cornstarch. Add enough water to cover the cornstarch. Allow the cornstarch and water to separate 1-3 hours.
  2. Season pork with salt, and pepper. Set aside in fridge until needed.
  3. Gently pour out the water from the cornstarch. You will be using the starch on the bottom of the bowl.
  4. Add in your egg and oil. It will be thick and stiff so make sure to mix well with your hands. Add in the pork and continue to combine.
  5. You will be frying the pork twice. Fry once until you get a crispy outside and drain on a wire rack.
  6. Time to make the sauce. In a large pot on medium high, add in water, vinegar, soy sauce and sugar.
  7. Once the liquid starts to boil add in your onions and carrots.
  8. When it starts to bubble again, stir in the cornstarch until it thickens.
  9. Lastly, add the red peppers, apple, and mushrooms. Simmer until your pork is done.
  10. Again fry the thinly sliced pork at 175C/ 350F until light golden brown. Drain well on a paper towel.
  11. Time to choose if you are a dipper or a pourer when it comes to the sauce. Best served with rice or jajangmyeon.
  12. Serve immediately and enjoy!
